This Android Virus Sends Offensive Messages from Your Phone

The origin of Faketoken malware dates back to 2014 when information technology was used equally a banking trojan to illegally transfer funds from bank accounts. The malware intercepted text letters to extract OTPs. At present, the latest iteration of Faketoken is capable of sending SMS letters from a compromised device, according to pop antivirus maker Kaspersky.

Kaspersky'southward botnet activeness monitoring system detected that about v,000 Faketoken infected smartphones were sending offensive text letters to unknown foreign numbers. More being driveling for spams, sending text letters to foreign numbers takes a hit on the victim's mobile account pecker.

"Faketoken's messaging activities are charged to the infected device owners. Before sending anything out, it confirms that the victims bank business relationship has sufficient funds. If the account has the greenbacks, then the malware uses the bill of fare to top up the mobile account before proceeding with messaging.", wrote Kaspersky in a web log post.

Install only applications distributed by Google Play
Practice non follow links from messages unless you are sure they are safe
Install a reliable security solution
